During the Easter/Passover break we stole away to Florida for a few days, mostly spent staring out at the beach through shut windows and wondering why-oh-why it always manages to hit record cold whenever we pass through the Sunshine State.
Walking down the beach on our last afternoon, we came across a woman feeding the gulls. She was surrounded by a huge flock, all flapping and squawking; its bolder members swooping to grab pieces of bread from her hand. She offered me a turn, but I demurred, staying behind my camera to grab a few shots.
I only packed a fixed 35mm lens for the trip, which might lend a sense of how closely this bird hovered over my head while it jockeyed for its handout.
